The focal blur settings in viewport properties control the slow but more accurate focal blur that is generated by shooting more rays into the scene.
Notes
- Focal blur settings are only available in perspective viewports.
- Focal blur only works in the Raytraced display mode and in rendering engines that support it.
- Different perspective viewports have their own focal blur settings.
<Viewport title>
The title of the current viewport.
No focal blur
Manual focus
Focal distance
The distance to a plane perpendicular to the camera that should be in focus.
Pick
For perspective views only. Pick one or more points in the viewport that will be in focus.
UseCameraTarget
Uses the distance between the viewport camera and target as the focal distance.
Distance
Type a number, or pick two points in the viewport, to set the focal distance.
Aperture (F-stop)
The 35 mm single-lens-reflex camera equivalent aperture.
Sample count
The number of rays per sub-pixel that is generated for the effect. The higher the count the more accurate and smoother the result, and the longer it takes to render.
Jitter
The amount of radial noise added to the ray origins. Bigger jitter makes the image noisier, but also hides the steps in shading caused by combining the image from multiple samples.
