Properties

The Hatch document properties manage loaded hatch patterns in the current Rhino model.

Options

Use Hatch Scaling
Enabled
  • Hatch patterns in model viewports are scaled by the Model Space Scale value.

  • Hatch patterns in detail views display with the same scale regardless of the zoom factor.

Disabled

Hatch patterns will not scale.

Model Space Scale

The scale factor for hatch patterns in model viewports.

  • These hatch scaling settings can be changed by the HatchScale command.

  • This setting is only used when Use Hatch Scaling is enabled.

  • This setting only affects hatch patterns that have their Pattern Scaling set to Layout Units (Drafting).

Copy

Creates a new hatch pattern from the selected one.

Delete

Deletes the selected hatch pattern.

  • The default Solid hatch pattern cannot be deleted.

Add Defaults

Restores the default hatch patterns that have been deleted.

Purge

Deletes unused hatch patterns.

Import

Imports hatch patterns from a .3dm or .pat file.

  • PAT 3.0 format is supported.

    A PAT 3.0 file must include VERSION, UNITS, and TYPE declarations at the beginning of the file, like this:

    ;%VERSION=3.0

    ;%UNITS=(Can be MM or INCH)

    ;%TYPE=(Can be MODEL or DRAFTING)

Actions

  • Check the checkboxes of the hatch patterns to import.

  • Click the +/- button in the column header to check or uncheck all hatch patterns.

Search

Lists only the hatch patterns that have the input text in their names.

Scaling types

The scaling type tabs let you filter the hatch patterns based on their scaling types.

Layout Units (Drafting)

Lists only the hatch patterns that use layout units.

Model Units

Lists only the hatch patterns that use model units.

All Hatches

Lists all hatch patterns, regardless of scaling types.

Pattern list

Displays the thumbnails of available hatch patterns in the model.

Actions

  • Right-click on a hatch pattern to show the context menu.

  • Dragging selected hatch patterns with Ctrl (CMD) makes copies of them.

Copy

Creates a new hatch pattern from the selected one.

Delete

Deletes the selected hatch pattern.

Use Layout / Model Units

Changes the selected hatch pattern's scaling type between layout and model units.

Add Defaults

Restores the default hatch patterns that have been deleted.

Import Hatch Patterns

Imports hatch patterns from a .3dm or .pat file.

Purge Unused Hatches

Deletes unused hatch patterns.

Sort By Pattern Scaling Units

For "All Hatches" only, hatch patterns are grouped by scaling type (Model or Layout) and then sorted alphabetically.

Previews Show Pattern Unit Outline Color

Distinguishes hatch pattern scaling types by outline colors: red for layout units and blue for model units.

Previews Show Pattern Unit Icon

Distinguishes hatch pattern scaling types by overlay icons: for layout units and for model units.

Pattern

Name

The hatch pattern name.

Description

The description of the hatch pattern.

The description filed is not editable. It can only be imported from .pat files.

Print and Display

Pattern Scaling

Specifies whether the hatch pattern uses Model Units or Layout Units.

  • If a hatch pattern is set to use Model Units, it is not affected by Use Hatch Scaling.

  • The overlay icons on hatch pattern thumbnails indicate their pattern scaling types.

    Model Units

    Layout Units

    The display of the overlay icons can be turned on or off on the right-click context menu.

Slider

Move the slider to change the size of the pattern thumbnails.

Double-click the slider to input a specific size.

Grid view

Displays hatch patterns as large thumbnails arranged in a grid.

List view

Displays hatch patterns in a vertical list with smaller previews.
