Shade Selected Objects Only

The ShadeSelected command toggles the ShadeSelected mode. When the ShadeSelected mode is on, in any shaded kind of display mode, objects will only be shaded when they are selected. When isocurves and edges are turned off (i.e., the Rendered mode), you will not see anything until you select something.
