Shade

The Shade command temporarily shades the viewport.

Steps

  1. Specify shade settings.
  2. Click in the viewport, press Esc, or start another command to cancel the shaded view.
Command-line options

DisplayMode

Shaded

Sets the viewport to opaque shaded mode.

Rendered

Shades the viewport with an OpenGL simulation of the rendered view.

Ghosted

Sets viewport display so surfaces are translucent ghosted mode.

XRay

Shades with ghosted mode whereisoparametric curves not obscured by objects in front.

DrawCurves

Displays curve objects.

DrawWires

Displays isoparametric curves and edges.

DrawGrid

Displays the grid.

DrawAxes

Displays the construction plane axes.

Shade Selected Objects Only

The ShadeSelected command toggles the ShadeSelected mode. When the ShadeSelected mode is on, in any shaded kind of display mode, objects will only be shaded when they are selected. When isocurves and edges are turned off (i.e., the Rendered mode), you will not see anything until you select something.
