Handle Curve

The HandleCurve command draws illustration-program-style chained Bézier curves.

Steps

  1. Pick the first curve point.
  2. Pick a handle location.
  3. Repeat the steps to place additional points, and press Enter to end the command.
Command-line options

Alt key

Press Alt to place a kink.

Command ⌘ key

Press Command ⌘ to place the point.

AutoClose

Closes the curve when the cursor moves close to the curve's start point.

AutoClose steps

  1. Move the cursor close to the start point of the curve, and pick.
    The curve will close.
  2. Press the Alt key to suspend automatic closing.

PersistentClose

Closes the curve as soon as there are two points placed.

If you continue to pick points, the curve updates the shape while remaining closed.

Close

Closes the curve smoothly, creating a periodic curve.

Sharp

Closes the curve with a kink, creating a non-periodic curve.

Undo

Reverses the last action.

Handlebar Editor

The HBar command edits a curve or surface with Bézier curve style handlebars.

Steps for curves

  1. Select a curve.
  2. Click and drag the handlebar grips to move it around.
  3. Click near the object to move the handlebar to the marker position.
  4. Press Enter to end the command.

Steps for surfaces

  1. Select a surface.
  2. Click and drag one of the handlebar grips to move it around.
  3. Press and hold Alt to drag points on the surface in the surface normal direction.
  4. Click near the object to move the handlebar to the marker position.
  5. Press Enter to end the command.
Command-line options

Tangents
(surfaces only)

Shows the tangent and normal grips with the grip on the surface.

Drag the normal midpoint grip to move the normal handle away from or toward the surface.

Drag the normal endpoint grip to rotate the normal handle.

FixedHandleLength

Prevents changing the shape of the curve by stretching the handles.
