Microstation (.dgn) import

Import Intergraph's MicroStation (.dgn) and Interactive Graphics System (.igds) CAD applications.

To open, import or insert a file

  1. From the File menu, click Open, Insert, or Import.

  2. In the dialog box, select a supported file type.
  3. Click Open and configure the settings.
    When you open a non-3dm file and save the model, its filename will be the default 3dm filename.

DGN Import Options

Import unreferenced layers

Layers with no content will be imported.

Import unreferenced blocks

Blocks with no inserted instances will be imported.

Import unreferenced linetypes

Linetype definitions will be imported.

Import views

Views will be imported.

Group cell headers
Select model spaces

Select one or more model spaces from the drop down menu.

If Select model spaces is not checked, all of the model space will be imported.

Always use these settings. Do not show this dialog again.

Saves the current settings and turns off the dialog display.

To turn the message back on

  • Rhino supports reading annotation objects in the DGN format.

  • Files referenced by the selected DGN file will import together.
